History

The Funtastic Creations programs were originally conceived and developed by Dr Melinda Richards who has expert knowledge and experience in motor development programming for early childhood. Dr Richards spent a significant amount of time researching, compiling ideas and writing the Funtastic Creations perceptual motor programs for early childhood, which have been operating within a number of child care centres in Brisbane since 1999. Dr Richards continues her involvement with the group as our Research Adviser. As a mother herself, she fully understands the need for developmental programs that help to guide children’s learning experiences and physical competence.

In 2005 Funtastic Creations was purchased by FOBIC Programs Pty Ltd which is a non profit 100% owned entity of Friends of Brain Injured Children of Qld Inc, a registered charity and public benevolent institution that has been involved in assessment and development programs since 1978.

In 2007, Friends of Brain Injured Children of Qld Inc. changed its name to The Developing Foundation to recognise and encompass its interests in the field of early childhood development and early detection and prevention of developmental delays.

The Developing Foundation also has a desire to further the knowledge in the medical and therapeutic community about brain development and function with the objective of improving the rehabilitation of people affected by developmental delay and brain injury and to assist in research into the prevention of developmental delays and subsequent neurological problems.
